Story so far…

We arrived (back) in Australia on May 17, 2022.

We rented a beautiful home on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast for two years and are now ready to see more of Australia.

Our camping rig

We purchased a small, used camper trailer to tow behind our (also used) 4WD.

The camper provides us a small bed, outside kitchen and shade. We can unhitch the trailer for exploratory day trips (and shopping). Solar power plus two fridges and onboard water storage supports 2-3 days of “free” camping.

Paid camping gives us bathrooms, showers, plug-in power (sometimes), and laundry facilities (sometimes) that are all most welcome.

Where to?

We’re going to explore Tropical North Queensland and Australia’s Top End - largely the Northern Territory.

We head north to the reef and rainforest areas of tropical Queensland, then across to Darwin. We’re hoping to experience the famous national parks, wildlife, pristine beaches, reefs, rivers, gorges and starry night skies of the outback.

Once in Darwin, we’ll catch our breath and decide whether to head down through the The Red Center to Alice Springs. This will require a loop back to the Sunshine Coast of about 6,000 km / 3,800 miles.
